Ford's S-Max MPV has been crowned European Car of the Year, by a panel of journalists. Is it a victory for originality, or yet another duff decision from Europe's motoring journalists? The shortlist for the award comprised: • Citroen C4 Picasso • Fiat Grande Punto • Ford S-Max• Honda Civic• Peugeot 207 • Skoda Roomster • Vauxhall Corsa • Volvo C30
The panel of 58 writers selected those eight contenders for the 41 cars eligible for the award.

Toyota iQ: the lowdown
The Japanese scored one of the very few surprises of the Frankfurt show this year, with the titchy iQ concept car that previews Toyota’s new sub-Aygo city car. It’s one of our favourite cars at the show, bristling with intelligent new thinking and design flourishes to make small cars interesting again. And the best news is that Toyota has committed to building a production version, probably due in European showrooms by 2009.
AN ART GALLERY wants to sell a work created at an abandoned Detroit car plant by the elusive British graffiti artist Banksy. 555 Nonprofit Gallery and Studios co-founder Carl Goines said proceeds from the sale would go to expand the gallery's programming. Mr Goines said he's hoping the Banksy work will bring in between 200,000 to 1.2 million dollars (£120,000 to £720,000), which he says is the range of recent sales.
